With Ben Davies featuring mostly as a centre-back, Antonio Conte’s choices for Tottenham’s left wing-back were Sergio Reguilón and Ryan Sessegnon.
The Spaniard played the best part of the season until suffering a groin strain for the last five games of the campaign, but it appears Antonio Conte isn’t fully satisfied with his options.
We say this because El Periódico Mediterráneo in Spain claim Tottenham are interested in Pervis Estupiñán, currently at Villarreal.
The Ecuadorian, who was signed by the La Liga side in 2020 from Watford, made 41 appearances in all competitions last season for the La Liga side, which included the vast majority of their Champions League campaign.
The newspaper explain that Villarreal already know of Tottenham’s interest in the left-back, described as one of their ‘most valued players’.
It’s said the 24-year-old is a ‘footballer that Conte has recommended as a possible reinforcement for the Londoners next season’, and his agent has told the Spanish side of this.
That being said, it’s not mentioned how much he would cost, but it’s made clear that Villarreal cannot buy if they don’t sell first.
With Arnaut Danjuma wanted by West Ham and Estupiñán being pursued by Tottenham, however, they might be able to start their own transfer market sooner rather than later.
