Arsenal are among the club ‘most interested’ in Real Madrid’s Marco Asensio and ‘would be willing’ to negotiate a deal with the Spanish giants.
That’s according to Cuatro, who say both the player and Madrid want to deal with his future soon, so it doesn’t ‘drag out’.
Asensio is in the final year of his current deal at the Santiago Bernabeu and so far hasn’t come to an agreement over an extension, meaning he could move on to a new club.
He’s been linked with several clubs around Europe, particularly in the Premier League, where Arsenal are thought to be big admirers.
Cuatro pick up on that today and insist that while Real Madrid have no urgency to sell the player, they do hope for an offer of €30m or €40m.
His agent, Jorge Mendes, is also moving around Europe to try and ‘offer him to big clubs’ if he can.
So far, Arsenal and AC Milan are the ‘most interested’ in him and ‘would be willing’ to negotiate a transfer fee with Madrid to secure his signature.
Both the player and Madrid want things dealt with swiftly and hope things will be resolved soon, whether that means selling him or signing him to a new deal. At the moment, the former is more likely than the latter.
That gives Arsenal a chance to get their man, although it should be pointed out that Asensio’s name is being linked with multiple Premier League clubs at this moment in time.
That could be a ploy to pressure Madrid into giving him a new deal, and Arsenal, who are among the most active clubs, might just find themselves being used towards that aim.
