Fernandinho, whose contract at Manchester City will expire in a few days, has arrived in Curitiba to sign for Athletico Paranaense, according to local reports.
Globo Esporte says the player landed on Sunday in a private flight, and is set to make official a contract which will run until 2024.
The player has a contract with Manchester City running until the 30th of June, but he will this week, have medicals and conclude the deal.
It’s said Fernandinho had been directly speaking to Athletico president Mauro Celso Petraglia since the start of May, and he’s set to start playing again for his former club from 18th of July, when the window opens.
Globo Esporte claims Fernandinho had been approached by other clubs from Brazil and from the Middle East as well.
Still, he gave Athletico his preference, and the Furacão are already interested in having him in a role after his retirement.
The midfielder had 383 appearances for Manchester City, having won five Premier League trophies.
