It was inevitable that once Erik ten Hag was confirmed as Manchester United manager, the club would soon be linked with players who worked with him at Ajax.
Despite the inevitability of the rumours, it’s clear there’s been some truth in the Dutchman looking towards what he knows for signings. The Frenkie de Jong saga is hopefully nearly at a conclusion, and interest in Jurrien Timber, who seems inclined to stay at Ajax, has also been well documented.
Monday’s edition of AD states Owen Wijndal looks to be on his way to Ajax from AZ Alkmaar. He’d likely be replacing Nicolas Tagliafico, who, ‘finally’, seems set for a move to a ‘top competition’.
AD say that just like Timber, Antony and Lisandro Martinez, Tagliafico is on Ten Hag’s list at Manchester United.
Even if the interest is true, the Red Devils would surely have to part ways with either Luke Shaw or Alex Telles before bringing the 29-year-old to the club this summer.
A situation to watch, but perhaps not as strong as some of the other Ajax-linked claims around Manchester United.
