Newcastle United are the only club ‘on the horizon’ for Inter Milan forward Joaquin Correa at this moment in time.
That’s according to Gazzetta Dello Sport, who say the player is one who could be sold by Inter as they look to raise funds.
The newspaper explains that in order to accommodate both Paulo Dybala and Romelu Lukaku in their forward line next season, they would like to sell two forwards.
That means getting rid of two of Alexis Sanchez, Edin Dzeko and Correa, but an initial search for suitors has not brought any serious interest as yet.
Correa is a favourite of manager Simone Inzaghi but struggled more than expected in his first year at the club following a €31m move in 2021.
The player himself is convinced he can prove his worth, but the club could let him go to free up the funds they need.
Any sale for ‘small sums’ would mean capital losses on the books, but they could instead look to ‘get a bigger cheque’ from Newcastle, who are the ‘only club on the horizon’ at this point.
They are on the hunt for talent to start their own new cycle after bouncing back last season, with the reinvention of Eddie Howe’s squad now underway this summer.
It’s not mentioned what Newcastle would look to pay or whether Correa would be keen on the move, just that they’re the one club Inter could get a bigger sum from.
A situation to keep an eye on, particularly if Inter decide to push for a sale to get Dybala over the line.
