Arsenal’s reported demands for Nuno Tavares appear to be blocking a potential deal for Aaron Hickey.
Just last week, we saw claims from the Italian media saying the Gunners were demanding €40m to let the player go, even though they spent only €8m to sign him last summer.
Now today, it’s Il Resto del Carlino, relayed by TuttoBolognaWeb, who point out that Atalanta’s pursuit for the player is ‘complicated’, likely due to the asking price for him, which is why they are now looking at Andrea Cambiaso.
The problem is that, if the Tavares issue isn’t resolved, that could also end up harming Arsenal’s own transfer window.
That’s because the London side would need those resources to spend on Bologna full-back Aaron Hickey.
Earlier today, reports from France claimed Olympique Marseille were trying to sign Nuno Tavares as well, but the Ligue 1 side would like to land him on a loan with an option to buy.
If that’s really the case and both reports are right, then letting the Portuguese player move to Marseille for free, at least for now, could stop the Gunners from investing in Hickey.
So perhaps getting to a fair deal with Atalanta would be the better option to fit all scenarios.
