Olympique Marseille have reportedly made an attempt for the signing of Arsenal fullback Nuno Tavares.

According to reports from the French media, the Ligue 1 side placed an offer to have the player on a loan, including an option to buy.

Foot Mercato claims the Marseille club are said to be still waiting for the reply from Arsenal, but it’s known the Gunners are ‘open’ to the idea of letting Tavares leaving on a temporary deal.

The Ligue 1 side reportedly have the competition from Atalanta, who are also said to be interested in the 22-year-old.

The story from Foot Mercato doesn’t say how much Olympique Marseille would like to spend on that buying option, and that’s certainly something crucial to convince Arsenal of accepting the deal.

Nuno Tavares joined Arsenal on an €8m move from Benfica last summer.

He made 27 appearances for the Gunners this season, with ups and downs between being a starter and a bench player in Mikel Arteta’s side.
