A couple of days ago, Argentina manager Edgardo Bauza said if Sergio Romero keeps sitting on Manchester United’s bench, it will be hard for him to hold this place as the number one goalkeeper in the national team.

In the mean time, Boca Juniors have failed to buy Mariano Andújar from Estudiantes. And as the club want a ‘national team level’ goalkeeper, Bauza’s quotes gave them a brilliant and obvious idea.

As reported by Olé today, the first contacts between Boca Juniors and Romero’s entourage have already been made. But the move seems quite unlikely for now.

Romero wants to stay at Manchester United and fight for his place. He also wants to continue living in Europe, just like his family, and he gets paid more than he would in Argentina.

RQtSC3zMAll these arguments are being put against one: the national team position.

Even though his spell at Manchester United hasn’t been very productive, Romero’s place with Argentina has been untouchable so far. But Bauza’s message could change the player’s mind, and that’s what Boca Juniors rely on.

Remaining Argentina’s number one plus a place at one of the biggest clubs in the country or Manchester United’s bench? It seems it’s up to the goalkeeper to decide now.
