Memphis Depay is getting closer and closer to an exit from Old Trafford, with Lyon his likely destination.
Late on Tuesday, we covered a story from FootMercato stating the French side had made a third offer worth €18m for the Dutch forward, while L’Equipe on Wednesday also reported it, but with the amount being €17m.
Fast forward a few hours and RMC’s Mohamed Bouhafsi reports the bid stands at €18.5m (bonuses included), with the Ligue 1 club now waiting for Manchester United’s response.
Also in the article, a source close to the Premier League side claims the two clubs are getting closer to an agreement, with Lyon slowly but surely meeting United’s demands, adding ‘everything should sort itself out within the next 48 hours’.
As previously reported, the 22-year-old is said to have already agreed financial terms with Lyon, with a four and a half year contract on the cards for the former PSV star.
Lyon’s aim is to get the transfer done before this weekend’s clash against Marseille, but the likelihood of Depay actually playing in that game remain slim.
The winger has only played 134 minutes of football this season, spread out over eight appearances in all competitions, with only 20 of those minutes coming in the Premier League.
Jose Mourinho has made it clear he won’t keep players who want to get minutes elsewhere, and that has led to Depay’s likely exit.
