Over the weekend, we relayed the news that Everton summer target Rachid Ghezzal still hadn’t signed a new contract with Lyon worth a reported €280k/month wage.

Rejecting a move to the Toffees, who were prepared to offer him €400k/month, the Algerian forward could leave his current club on a free in the summer, and FootMercato report a host of clubs are interested in such an opportunity.

At the time, we wrote: “The Lyon offer still isn’t close to Everton’s and Ghezzal seems to want to have his cake and eat it. If Everton aren’t a high enough sporting level, then Ghezzal needs to seriously consider if teams like the Manchester pair, Chelsea, Tottenham, Liverpool, Arsenal would want him.”

Well, it appears one of them actually is.

The French website claim Monaco, Atlético Madrid, Valencia, AC Milan, Arsenal and Everton are keen on bringing in the 24-year-old on a free in June, and all have been in contact with the player’s entourage regarding a potential summer move.

Yet to accept Lyon’s offer, mostly due to a lack of guarantees, the player is likely to listen to what Arsene Wenger and Ronald Koeman have to offer, and if the financial and football projects offered to him surpass that of his current club, an agreement could be reached swiftly.

It seems the Ghezzal saga is now back on, and it’s a little more exciting with Arsenal now joining Everton.

Currently with his national team at the Africa Cup of Nations, the forward has scored two goals and picked up five assists for Lyon in 19 appearance so far this season.
