Manchester United have joined Arsenal in the chase for Ajax’s Lisandro Martínez.
The centre-back, who can also operate as a defensive midfielder, attracted attention from the Gunners.
De Telegraaf state Arsenal asked the Eredivisie winners if the player is available for sale and also informed them they are willing to offer €30m for his signature.
Mikel Arteta’s side backed down after Ajax refused to let him leave, and therefore Arsenal didn’t submit any official offer.
That may not be the case with Manchester United. It’s claimed the Red Devils are now ‘preparing an offer for the player’, who played under Erik ten Hag for three years at Ajax.
There is no mention pf what fee United are planning to propose to the Amsterdam club for the Argentina international.
De Telegraaf state that if Manchester United ‘dig much deeper’ than Arsenal had initially planned, then Ajax will have a decision to make on whether to retain the South American.
The newspaper also adds the Dutch club will only sell Martínez if there is an offer on the table they cannot refuse.
In other words, Manchester United must pay much more than €30m [what Arsenal planned to offer] if they wish to secure the defender’s services this summer.
