Loaned to Lyon for the season, Chelsea’s Emerson Palmieri quickly became an important member of Peter Bosz’s side in France.
That didn’t lead to him being bought, however, meaning he will return to Stamford Bridge, where he will have to once again find himself another club.
The idea would be for him to leave Chelsea for good this year, and Lazio in Italy would be prepared to welcome him, where he would be reunited with Maurizio Sarri.
Corriere dello Sport look at the situation on Friday, and explain that Igli Tare, the Italian club’s director of football, could be on his way to London, having gone travelling for work on Wednesday afternoon.
Emerson Palmieri is reportedly ‘in Sarri’s thoughts’, and ‘there are favourable conditions to bring him back to Italy’.
It’s made clear the Brazil-born Italy international ‘would like to leave’ Chelsea in the near future, but first there is a need to ‘understand the valuation’ the Blues will put in place for the 27-year-old, whose contract at Stamford Bridge comes to an end in 2024.
