Following a one-year spell at Braga, where he made 42 appearances, Yan Couto is now returning to Manchester City.
The fullback has a contract with Pep Guardiola’s side running until 2025, and when agreeing his loan last summer, the Premier League club did not accept including an option for a permanent move in the deal.
It turns out, however, that Braga did not give up on having him for longer. And according to newspaper O Jogo today, the Portuguese side shall try for a new agreement with Manchester City.
The outlet writes that keeping Couto is one of the priorities for the Arsenalistas this summer. Their intention is now to try a new loan, but with a buying option this time.
O Jogo claims that Manchester City asked for time to think about the situation. Still, they know that Couto’s wish is to stay at Braga for longer.
While the Portuguese wait for the decision from the Premier League side, they work on the comeback of Zé Carlos, who’s been on loan at Gil Vicente. He’s their alternative in case Pep Guardiola’s club choose to keep their fullback.
