Portuguese newspaper A Bola today features an update on the situation of Sporting midfielder João Palhinha, as German side Bayer Leverkusen are now interested in his signing.
The outlet points out there’s a growing race for his signing this summer, as clubs such as Wolverhampton Wanderers continue to be in the chase to land him as well.
That’s why his departure from Sporting now seems to be ‘inevitable’, and the Lions have already set a price for his sale.
They want at least €25m to let him go.
Bayer and Wolves are joined by the likes of Atletico Madrid, Napoli and Tottenham Hotspur in the battle. All these clubs are said to have the power of matching Palhinha’s price, with ‘maybe’ the exception of the Serie A side.
Bayer Leverkusen, however, may have an advantage over other clubs. That’s because the Lions have been chasing their winger Paulinho, and there’s now a scenario for a potential swap between the two.
It turns out Sporting are also interested in a player who’s been at Wolverhampton Wanderers this season, which is Francisco Trincão. The midfielder, however, belongs to Barcelona, and can’t help the Molineux side in the negotiations for Palhinha.
