PSV Eindhoven star Ibrahim Sangare has admitted it would be his ‘dream’ to play in the Premier League amid interest from Newcastle United.

The Ivorian midfielder has been one of the stars of the show for the Dutch side this season, with a series of impressive performances in the Eredivisie and Europe catching the eye.

He’s been linked with a move away from the club for several months, with sides in the Premier League, in particular, said to be interested in him.

One of those reportedly keen are Newcastle, who were keen back in the January transfer window and even contacted his agent about a possible move.

That was later followed by PSV chief John de Jong admitting clubs had been in contact with him regarding Sangare, although he did not specifically name Newcastle as one of them.

Either way, they are reportedly keen, and the player has now admitted he would love a move to the Premier League, where some of his footballing heroes have also made their names.

“I am a PSV player, and I am concentrating on the three games we have left this season,” he told De Telegraaf.

“I don’t have my head in other things. After that, I’ll go on holiday, and I’ll have time to talk about possible next projects, but until then I don’t want to worry about that.

“Playing in the Premier League is not only a dream of mine but a dream of every footballer. That is the biggest and most important league in the world.

“As a little boy in Ivory Coast, Chelsea was the club of my heart. Because Didier Drogba, the best Ivorian striker ever, played there. He is one of my great idols.

“Later, I also became a fan of Manchester City when Yaya Touré played there. Like me, he played in midfield. Drogba and Touré are the great legends of Ivorian football. Players who really put African football on the map.”
