A couple of years later, Wolverhampton Wanderers are back to being linked to Valencia striker Maxi Gomez.

This renewed interest from Wolves in the 25-year-old is today reported by Spanish outlet Fichajes, who claims the Molineux side have ‘set their eyes’ on the player.

The outlet recalls that the Premier League club had already been interested in Gomez back at the time they needed a replacement for Raul Jimenez, who had his serious head injury.

Now with the Uruguayan still at the La Liga side, Wolves are said to be willing to make a bid for his transfer this summer.

According to Fichajes, Valencia are looking to make money with sales in the next transfer window, and with Gomez one of the bigger names in the squad, he’s seen as one of the obvious assets to be put in the market.

Now since the striker only has three goals in 27 appearances this season, it’s impossible not to wonder why Wolves are interested in him at this stage, but perhaps Bruno Lage has plans on how to get him to hit the back more often.
