Imagine saying something one day, and the exact opposite happening the next.
That’s pretty much what happened with Standard Liège’s director of sport, Olivier Renard, who told DH on Tuesday that there was a “100%” chance of their striker Ishak Belfodil staying at the club in January despite strong interest from Everton and West Brom in the player.
However, according to DH on Wednesday, Ronald Koeman’s side have won the race, and the Algerian striker is expected to be on his way to Goodison Park in the next few days.
The Belgian newspaper first reported this morning that Everton placed a €10m offer for the 24-year-old on Tuesday night , which hadn’t been accepted at the time.
However, an update reveals a new offer has been accepted after the Premier League club upped their bid to €12m.
DH also report Belfodil has been offered a four and a half year contract by Everton.
The striker could even leave Standard Liège’s training camp on Thursday in order to complete the relevant medical and paperwork to finalise the deal, with the transfer being announced then.
Belfodil revealed to DH back in September that his dream was to play in the Premier League.
It seems his wish is about to come true.
