Despite recent reported attempts from Fenerbahçe to try and beat Milan to the signing of Divock Origi, it appears a move to Italy is still on the cards for the Liverpool player.
The Belgian is out of contract at the end of the season and has been in talks with the Serie A side for some time regarding a free transfer.
However, an agreement has yet to be reached, and Gazzetta dello Sport explain why on Wednesday.
Looking at the situation, the Italian newspaper reveal that while Gianluca Scamacca could be the man to replace Zlatan Ibrahimovic long-term, he isn’t the only track the club are pursuing.
The other involves the Liverpool forward, but ‘it is necessary to find an agreement on the wages’, because ‘at the moment, the gap is around €1m, with Milan not intending to exceed in any way’ their self imposed salary cap, fixed at €4m/year.
It’s stated ‘the dialogue continues in this case’, and despite there being an ‘agreement outlined with the representatives of the Belgian striker’ for weeks, the actual handshake has yet to take place.
That’s why ‘it’s therefore necessary to understand when (and if) the time will come to sink the blow’ for the Liverpool man.
