On Friday morning, before Manchester United announced Bruno Fernandes’ new contract, Portuguese newspapers already had several stories claiming the deal would be made official in a few hours.
One of those outlets is Record, who in their story, brings a few details of the midfielder’s extension with the Red Devils.
They write that following the talks between Manchester United and agent Miguel Pinho, it was agreed that Bruno Fernandes’ salary would be double, with him now making €10m per season.
Record highlights this as a ‘dream week’ for the player, as after scoring a brace in the game which took Portugal to the World Cup, he now gets ‘a vote of confidence’ from the Red Devils.
The outlet also points out Manchester United worked on the new deal to ‘back off all the clubs’ who were thinking about signing the midfielder.
Bruno Fernandes joined the Red Devils on a €63m deal from Sporting in January 2020, and since then, has 49 goals and 39 assists in 117 appearances for teh Premier League side.
