Tottenham’s Steven Bergwijn is looking likely to end up at Ajax in the summer after they made several attempts to sign him in January.
That’s according to Voetbal International, relayed by Soccer Nieuws, who say the Tottenham man is one of three player the Dutch giants are planning on targeting in the summer transfer window.
They explain that there are likely to be a lot of changes at Ajax in the summer, with several current stars, including Sebastien Haller and Noussair Mazraoui, ‘on the verge’ of leaving the club.
They will need replacing, and so the Amsterdam side are likely to ‘show their financial muscle’ in order to do so.
Bergwijn is one that they are targeting after making ‘several attempts’ to get him out of Tottenham in the January transfer window.
That came to nothing, despite Spurs and Antonio Conte seemingly being happy to do a deal at the right price, but it has not deterred Ajax.
He remains on their ‘wish list’, and with him only managing a handful of minutes in recent weeks, there is a ‘good chance’ that the player and Tottenham will go their separate ways in the summer.
Ajax will, of course, have to find a deal with Spurs, but it seems there is growing confidence they can get something done after their failed attempts in January.
