Mohamed Salah has been starring for Liverpool ever since he arrived at Anfield from AS Roma in 2017 and has been instrumental in helping them win the Champions League and Premier League since then.
The forward has been the standout player for the Merseyside club this season, with 28 goals and 10 assists from 35 matches in all competitions.
However, his long-term future with the Reds remains uncertain as his contract expires in 2023.
This has caught the attention of other clubs, especially Barcelona. AS on Tuesday have a report on the Egypt international, titled: ‘Xavi wants Salah’.
The La Liga side are looking to bolster their attack in the summer and their leaders currently have four players on their list; Erling Haaland, Salah, Robert Lewandowski and Romelu Lukaku.
Xavi and other Camp Nou leaders consider Salah to be the ‘ideal player’, if Haaland were to snub the Catalan club.
The 29-year-old is the ‘priority alternative’ for the Blaugrana and they are of the belief they would get him for a ‘much lower’ price when compared to the fee, agent commission and the salary needed to sign the BVB striker.
According to AS, Barca believe the amount needed to sign Salah ‘would not exceed €70m’.
In other words, the Spanish club believe they can take the player away from Liverpool for a reasonable price in the summer.
If a deal for Salah doesn’t materialise, then they will shift their focus to the Bayern Munich striker, who is the third option for Barca, ahead of Chelsea’s Romelu Lukaku.
