On March 14th, Gazzetta dello Sport explained that ‘first of all’ Tottenham Hotspur have ‘moved’ for AS Monaco youngster Mamadou Coulibaly. It was also stated he has long been on AC Milan’s radar.
The 17-year-old is out of contract in June and another club can take him away from the Ligue 1 side by paying them a training allowance.
Claims made by Gazzetta are backed up Milan News, who then provide more update on the efforts made by the Serie A Side.
The Rossoneri have ‘immediately set to work to test the ground’ and the idea to take the midfielder for ‘low-cost’ appeals to their leaders. Despite having a ‘great interest’, the report says they are set to face competition from Spurs and a few other clubs to sign Coulibaly.
It’s said Milan chiefs Paolo Maldini and Frederic Massara have presented their project to Coulibaly, which includes a gradual inclusion in their first team training. He is ‘fascinated’ with the idea of joining the Italian club.
Stefano Pioli’s side, however, are not alone as they are joined by the north London club. As per the report, Tottenham ‘move to try and burn the competition’ to land him.
Coulibaly, for his part, has not yet made a decision on whether or not to leave Monaco and a ‘final decision’ on his future will be made after he turns 18 years of age on April 21st.
Milan have taken an important step and are ‘waiting with confidence’, and therefore, the Premier League side must act fast if they are to beat the San Siro club to sign Coulibaly.
