Celtic are looking to battle back control of Scottish football from their neighbours, and such battles are something Massimo Donati remembers, with him seeing his time with the Bhoys as one of his career highlights.
Donati won the only honours of his career whilst at Celtic, picking up the league title in 2008, and a cup the year after.
After his experience with Celtic, the midfielder returned to Italy, playing for Bari, Palermo and Hellas Verona, before going back to Scotland and playing for Hamilton Academical and St Mirren.
Speaking to Italy’s FootballNews24, Donati was asked about his time with Celtic, and made clear just how special he found it: “The experience at Celtic was wonderful, because it is a different culture and a different type of football from ours. I had the opportunity to play in the Champions League and I took away many satisfactions. A wonderful adventure in a club that has fans all over the world. It is a glorious shirt and in Scotland football is experienced in a particular way. If I can I always follow Celtic because it is a real institution.”
