Sources close to Barcelona forward Ousmane Dembele have insisted the player will be staying at the club despite reports of a late bid from Chelsea.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who say that the Frenchman has ‘yet to give any answers’ regarding his future.
The newspaper explains that Dembele went to the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper this afternoon to return to training under manager Xavi.
However, he did not answer questions about his future and whether he would be staying at the Camp Nou or moving elsewhere.
Reports earlier today in Spain have indicated that Chelsea are making a late bid to sign the Frenchman, even going as far as to say that a deal was 99% done.
According to MD’s sources, Dembele’s plan this morning was to stay at the club until the end of the season, when he will become a free agent.
Those same sources have made it clear that the possibility of the player leaving on deadline day is still ‘open’, but they have ‘no evidence’ that Chelsea have made a bid for his signature or that PSG are in the mood for a late bid either.
That goes completely against the reports earlier today, which stated that the Blues were making a last-ditch bid and had pretty much everything tied up.
Sport say otherwise, meanwhile stating that Barcelona are ‘trying to reach a transfer agreement’ with PSG and Chelsea for Dembele.
They say the forward is willing to leave the Camp Nou if the deal is ‘favourable to his interests’, but Financial Fair Play is making it difficult for either team to offer what is required.
Both clubs’ plans are to reach an agreement for the remainder of the season and then the next four years.
It could be this where the reports from ABC came from, but like with Aubameyang, whose arrival is closely tied to Dembele’s exit, everything appears to be chaos at this moment in time.
