Former Leeds United Andy Ritchie forward has urged the Elland Road club to get the transfer of Pontus Jansson completed in the new year. Jansson is currently on loan with Leeds United from Torino, and can become a permanent fixture once he plays 20 games for the Elland Road club.
“First up, sign Pontus Jansson permanently. That has to happen. The option is there, it’s been spoken about repeatedly and Jansson should activate it by making his 20th appearance on Monday. Obviously he’s on loan to the end of the season but this is all about a statement of intent,” said Richie.
Jansson has been a revelation for Leeds United since his arrival in the summer, and has been key in Garry Monk’s side this season. With Kyle Bartley he’s formed a solid partnership at the heart of Leeds United’s defence, which has been influential in the club climbing up into the play-off places.
If Jansson plays in Monday’s game with Rotherham United then this will activate the Sweden international’s clause, meaning Leeds United can sign him outright from Torino.
