It was in January 2020 that Aston Villa striker Wesley Moraes had a knee injury. The Brazilian had to go through surgery, and despite the long time of recovery, he’s still working to find his best form.
The 25-year-old even started the season in the Premier League, but was then sent to Brugge on a loan until the end of the season.
However, as he isn’t getting the expected playing time in Belgium, other clubs are starting to be interested in his signing.
Reports from Brazil have been saying that Palmeiras are considering an attempt for a loan deal, and Globo Esporte, who broke the news in first place, now managed to have a word with Wesley regarding the interest.
“I get very happy. It’s a sign that my work is being acknowledged by a great football club in the world. This gives me even more courage to keep working,” Wesley told Globo Esporte.
Regarding the doubts about his physical shape, the player claims to be sure that he’s completely fit and ready to find his old form.
“I am 100% ready to play. Recovery was excellent. Aston Villa understood that returning to Belgium would be beneficial to my recovery. Since I knew the club, the way of playing and the atmosphere was favourable. Now it’s up to games and goals to continue.”
Wesley also made it clear that a return to his home country would be a possibility.
“I don’t rule out returning to Brazil at this time. Even more if I’m going to play for a team that will play for titles, which has a very good work structure and a very high-level squad. I try to focus on my field work and leave this part of the negotiations with my agents. They lead and give me what’s really important when they think it’s important.”
The striker’s contract with Villa runs until 2024.
