When Watford returned to the Premier League under Xisco this season, a few transfers took place to bolster the squad.
The Spaniard, although not doing awfully, was sacked quite early on in the campaign to be replaced by Claudio Ranieri, who appears to have steadied the ship somewhat despite facing a tough run of games, with their upcoming fixtures far more favourable.
We’ll have to see if he can turn their form around over the next month or so, and January reinforcements could come in to help with that, with Han-Noah Massengo possibly on a list somewhere.
We say this because the Hornets gave it a go last summer, but Bristol City, where the young midfielder is one of the more important players, stood in their way.
The player was interviewed by RMC Sport on Wednesday, where he was directly asked about his future.
He said: “Yes, but maybe they weren’t the right projects or it wasn’t the right time. If it didn’t get done it’s because it wasn’t meant to get done. I’m very calm about all this because I believe in myself and if I worked hard, things will happen by themselves”.
As for whether he had thought about leaving, he added: “No. The new manager had just come in and he showed me signs of trust. Players who had won the Premier League arrived this summer, so the project presented was interesting.
“I still have a year and a half of contract, so it would be wrong of me to say that I’m thinking about leaving. I firstly think about the club’s objectives. We’ll see when the time comes with my entourage what’s best for me”.
Perhaps if Watford were to try again…
