Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva is also a potential target for Barcelona, with their director of football Mateu Alemany travelling to Manchester for talks with the club.
That’s according to Sport, who say Alemany has travelled to Manchester for talks with City with the aim of negotiating for a signing in the winter transfer window.
The ‘good relations’ between the two club could ‘pave the way’ for a signing, but the economic demands City have put in place are considered a ‘highly insurmountable wall’.
In that sense, Raheem Sterling, who has been linked with a move to Barcelona for months, is ‘complicated’ as City’s economic demands for that deal are high.
The third name on the list is Bernardo Silva. He’s been Guardiola’s ‘most important’ player this season and was tempted to leave in the summer but ended up staying at the club.
His preferred destination was La Liga, and Barcelona were one of the favourites. He would fit in perfectly with the style of football they want to play, but Manchester City demanded a transfer fee Barcelona simply couldn’t afford.
He remains a player they’re interested in, though, and Alemany is likely to ‘discuss’ him when he arrives in Manchester for talks.
Those talks are sure to be extensive, with him needing to ensure he finds the best options for Barcelona that are within the ‘economic possibilities’ for the Blaugrana, something Manchester City will have to play their part in too.
