Chelsea defender Cesar Azpilicueta is one of several options Barcelona are looking at to bolster their right-back options.
That’s according to Sport, who say the Spanish side want to strengthen the position for next season with a signing in the summer.
They believe it would be a good idea to ‘shore up’ the position and have been following several players to do so, including Ajax’s Noussair Mazraoui.
He’s available on a free transfer in the summer, and Barcelona want to take advantage of that if they can. Indeed, it is their strategy to look at free transfers.
They want to ‘fish for quality players’ at the ‘lowest possible price’, and that has also seen them look at Chelsea’s Azpilicueta.
His contract at Stamford Bridge expires in the summer, and so far, there has been no progress on him extending his stay.
He’s living a ‘second youth’ under Thomas Tuchel, though, enjoying a more prominent role for Chelsea and becoming an important player in Luis Enrique’s Spain side as well.
The only doubt about him is his offensive output, but Barcelona have him ‘in their portfolio’ of potential free agents nonetheless.
