Big claims come from Germany on Tuesday regarding Barcelona and Red Bull Salzburg attacker Karim Adeyemi.
Borussia Dortmund are known to be keen on the player, and when discussing interest from the Bundesliga side, Barcelona have been dragged into the picture.
Sport1 report, according to their own information, that BVB continue to be the best placed to sign the Salzburg player. They’re ready to offer the 19-year-old a five year contract, which would be worth €5m per season.
In terms of transfer fee, Sport1 say Dortmund would be willing to send €35m, plus bonus payments, to Red Bull Salzburg.
The German source then states Barcelona are ‘ready to pay €40m’ for the player, and that the Blaugrana want to make an ‘offer this week’. Adeyemi is said to be keen to stay where he is for the rest of the season, so a move is likelier next summer.
Sport1 insist that despite Barcelona being able to pay higher wages, Dortmund still have advantages in the race. That mainly revolves around the general package and the assumption Adeyemi believes he could succeed more quickly at BVB.
Whether this is all just hype to make a move to BVB seem like it was more toughly fought is unclear, but given Barcelona’s finances it seems a stretch to believe they’d be so keen to pay €40m for a player currently in Austria.
