Newcastle United were purchased by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund last month and the arrival of the new owners has not ended the Magpies’ interest Fenerbahçe goalkeeper Altay Bayındır.
That’s according to Milliyet, who say the 23-year-old’s performances for the Süper Lig side have caught the attention of top clubs, including the newly-rich Tyneside side.
The Premier League club’s new management want to add the keeper to their squad and are even ‘considering offering’ around £14m to Vítor Pereira’s side.
An offer in that region, however, will not be accepted by the Turkish club, according to the claims. There is no mention of what will be the fee needed to convince Fenerbahçe to sanction Bayındır’s sale.
Fenerbahçe, in fact, are planning to propose a new contract to the Turkey international, which will naturally involve him getting a pay rise.
Bayındır picked up an injury in his side’s defeat to Konyaspor at the end of October and is expected to be on the sidelines until January. Milliyet’s report indicates the setback has not had any impact on Newcastle United’s interest in signing the custodian.
