Paulo Sousa is one of the options being considered by Aston Villa as they look for the man to replace Dean Smith as manager.
That’s according to Tuttomercatoweb, who say that the Poland coach is among the candidates being considered for the now vacant manager’s position.
Smith was sacked on Monday after a disappointing start to the season and a poor run of form in 2021 in general.
The hunt is now on for his replacement, with Aston Villa looking to get a new man in charge before the Premier League returns after the international break.
A long list of names have been linked with the position since Smith’s departure, and Sousa can be added to the list.
According to TMW, he will be ‘screened’ by Aston Villa, who have been impressed by the work he has done with the Polish national team so far.
They were particularly impressed with the performances they showed against England and the improvement of Robert Lewandowksi, who has found a new level for his country since Sousa’s arrival.
These are aspects that make Sousa a ‘top candidate’ for Aston Villa, who have him ‘among the options’ they are considering to replace Smith.
