With Lorenzo Insigne currently out of contract in June 2022, there are a lot of questions regarding the Italy international’s future.
A move to the Premier League has been touted, as a club like Arsenal, previously linked, could accommodate his high wages, and yet there are many who doubt this is something the player wants.
After all, he has spent all of his time at Napoli as a footballer, and a move away, towards the end of his career, would represent a big risk.
Furthermore, for Antonio Giordano, who writes for Corriere dello Sport and was talking to Radio Marte, relayed by Area Napoli, the likes of Tottenham and Arsenal aren’t big enough for the Euro 2020 winner.
He said: “If I go away from Napoli, I do it only for a very high range, and Arsenal and Tottenham are not a part of it. Are we really sure that the right offer would come from these teams? Do you need Insigne? And are we sure that Lorenzo would get back into the game abroad, at 31, to learn a new language and be ‘Insigne among others’?”.
The journalist then went on to list teams, such as Bayern Munich, Manchester United and even Paris Saint-Germain as those the player could aspire to, but their attacking units are already full.
As for Arsenal, it seems they are now below that top tier, perhaps due to their lack of European football for the season.
Since Insigne might need to make a decision in January, it will still be too early to know if the Gunners will qualify for any of the three competitions on offer.
