If Burnley fans are to be believed, Steven Defour is better than Zinedine Zidane, but according to Sean Dyche, he’s not ready to play 90 minutes in the Premier League.

The Belgian midfielder, who arrived for just under €9m from Anderlecht, appeared to have mastered Premier League football, scoring and assisting, however, it seems his English manager still isn’t fully convinced about his physical abilities.

Yet to complete 90 minutes for his new club, Defour’s inability to finish a game was publicly criticised by Dyche, and a change of tactic away from home has seen the record signing sit on the bench more often than not.

Add all of this together and the result is an unhappy player.

Both Het Laatste Nieuws and DH in Belgium have similar reports that the Belgium international isn’t best pleased with his new situation, with the latter of the two making it clear Defour ‘hates being on the bench, especially when the manager’s choices are bizarre’.

The midfielder, who had the opportunity to move to Al-Arabi in the summer, but chose to earn less money in a far more competitive leave, could be starting to regret his decision, with a situation impossible to change before next summer.

Having already played for both Anderlecht and Burnley this season, Defour is ineligible to play for any other club until the start of the 2017-18 season, which means that regardless of how things pan out for Sean Dyche and Burnley, Defour is stuck at Turf Moor for the next six months at least.
