Even though Federico Chiesa will soon become a Juventus player on a permanent deal, having joined from Fiorentina on a protracted loan with buying obligation, we won’t stop seeing rumours about a potential move abroad.
The winger has been linked to several sides for the past couple of years, with Liverpool being named as one of the contenders for his signing.
Chiesa has been at Juventus since the summer of 2020. He joined them on a two-year loan from Fiorentina, and once permanent, the deal will have cost as much as €60m.
Now his good performances for the Old Lady are seen as a possibility for the club to make a quick profit by selling him, and that’s where the race for his signing is reopened again.
As Il Giornale today brings a piece on the 23-year-old, they claim the Reds recently made a quite impressive approach for his signing.
The newspaper (via Tutto Juve) claims that ‘a couple of months ago’, Liverpool and Bayern Munich had put on the table ‘between €80m and €100m’ for Chiesa.
It isn’t clear if that approach was made to Juventus or his agents, although it’s safe to say that the offer would be attractive for any of those involved.
Chiesa is said to be on a salary of €5m per season, which isn’t huge considering he’s one of the stars of Serie A and for his country. If Liverpool and Bayern are really willing to spend that much on the transfer, then the wages shouldn’t be a problem.
It’s worth noting that the Italian media have been hyping Chiesa constantly recently, and that will naturally include them saying the biggest clubs in Europe want him.
