Midtjylland midfielder Jens Cajuste has responded to the latest rumours regarding a potential offer from Newcastle United.
Speaking to the local media during the international camp today, the 22-year-old was quizzed about the links with the Magpies, and tried not to feed the rumours too much.
“Now the window is closed so I just want to focus on where I am now and it is with the national team, then it is far to the window opens again,” said Cajuste (via Fotbollskanalen).
“The only thing I know is that I should work as hard as I can and play as much as I can. Then we’ll see.”
The latest news regarding Newcastle’s chase for Cajuste came from France at the weekend as outlet Homme Du Match claimed that the Magpies ‘have not given up’ on his signing after already being interested in the summer, and should now be back with another offer for a January move.
According to the report, the Premier League side should now raise the previous bid, which had been of €14m plus bonuses, and try to get him in the middle of the season.
The good thing for Newcastle is that they’d now have less competition for the signing, since the likes of Rennes, Galatasaray and Lazio are all no longer interested in buying the midfielder.
