Josuha Guilavogui has insisted he is ‘happy’ to have stayed at Wolfsburg amid interest shown by Watford and several other clubs in the summer.
Towards the end of the last window, Fussball Transfers reported the Hornets, Venezia FC, Dynamo Moscow and an unnamed club from Qatar were interested in the defensive midfielder. Watford even made contact for the 31-year-old’s signing.
Sport Buzzer now echoes FT’s report and states the Premier League side had joined various others in trying to secure the 31-year-old’s signature.
They make these claims after the player, who gave an interview to Sport Buzzer, admitted he never received any concrete offers in the summer.
“There were no concrete offers, but there were a few clubs that were interested,” Guilavogui said.
Sport Buzzer states the Bundesliga side had no intention of letting the player leave and this decision was made before Xaver Schlager suffered a serious injury late in August.
Schlager’s injury setback has allowed the Frenchman to have more minutes this season. Guilavogui has started all six matches in September for Wolfsburg and is now delighted to have not taken Watford and others clubs’ interest into serious consideration.
“I stayed and I’m happy about it because I’m playing more than last year. I will still improve. I am not yet at 100 percent. But I’ll be back soon. It’s not easy when you’ve almost never played for eight months and now you play every three days,” he explained.
