Emerson Royal’s transfer from Barcelona to Tottenham Hotspur seems to be moving forward.
According to the latest report from Mundo Deportivo, the player has accepted the transfer to Spurs and currently negotiates a contract with the club.
It’s claimed that following the agreement between the clubs for the move, the Brazilian needed to be convinced over accepting the transfer, as he was initially focused on staying at Barça.
However, the personal agreement is apparently still an issue. Mundo Deportivo says that for now, the parties are ‘distanced’ between what Emerson asks and what Tottenham offer.
The outlet points out that Spurs had already made an offer for Emerson last week, and that had been turned down by Barcelona. This time, the London side managed to convince the Catalan club with a deal worth €30m, including bonuses.
The left-back is said to be a long-time target for manager Nuno Espírito Santo, who’s been following him since his arrival at Betis in January 2019.
Mundo Deportivo also reported today that Arsenal made an offer for Emerson as well, but the Gunners were beaten by their London rivals.
