While the whole footballing world is trying to work out where Cristiano Ronaldo will go to next, Wolverhampton Wanderers are merrily going about their business bidding for defenders.
The latest target Bruno Lage appears to have asked for is Lille’s Sven Botman, with Voetbal International in Holland claiming the Ligue 1 side ‘rejected an offer’ from Wolves for the 21-year-old defender.
One of the key members of Lille’s title win last season under Christophe Galtier, the Dutch centre-back caught the eye of many clubs, including some of the best in Europe, but the French club have always been firm in their stance.
It’s said ‘Wolves have already made an attempt to recruit Botman’, but Lille turned it away, knowing full way they have a ‘good negotiating position, because there is more interest and the young Dutchman still has a contract until mid-2025’.
In fact, Sevilla are after him, seeing him as the ideal replacement for Jules Koundé, should the Frenchman end up at Chelsea.
It seems Wolves will therefore have to up their offer.
