Earlier today, we carried a report from Voetbal Krant, who explained Albert Sambi Lokonga ‘will play for Arsenal next season’ and Anderlecht are set to land a much better deal from his transfer than they were originally offered.
Voetbal Krant didn’t provide details of the operation, but did mention the Gunners’ earlier offer of less than €15m was rejected by the Belgian club.
Het Nieuwsblad are also reporting Anderlecht ‘turned down’ the north London club’s initial offer worth €14m plus €3m in bonuses.
The midfielder is keen on joining Mikel Arteta’s side and after having already agreed personal terms with the English club, he can get his wish fulfilled.
That’s because the Premier League side have ‘upped their offer’ and their new proposal is ‘already rising well above €15m’. In addition to this, the bonuses related to the deal have been improved.
Anderlecht also want to retain a ‘solid percentage’ on a future sale, which seems to have been agreed by Arsenal. Due to these factors, the report adds the ‘case does not appear to be far from a breakthrough’.
Lokonga’s preference is to sign for Arsenal, and Anderlecht have already started looking for his replacement.
