We’re going to be honest, it’s been a while since we’ve seen anything about Rui Patricio and a potential move away from Wolverhampton Wanderers to AS Roma.
The goalkeeper had been the favourite to join José Mourinho in Rome for some time, and it all of a sudden disappeared when Granit Xhaka was surprisingly announced as a target of theirs.
However, with the position still a problem and Gianluigi Donnarumma a bit too expensive for the Serie A side, the Wolves player’s name has returned thanks to Corriere dello Sport.
The newspaper make it clear the club’s need ‘is to get the right choice’ for the role, with it then explained that Jorge Mendes ‘has offered Rui Patricio for some time’.
Mino Raiola, the main competitor for the super agent on the transfer market, has also been in touch, and while Donnarumma isn’t an option, he is ‘ready to bring Alphonse Aréola’.
A battle of the agents to place one of their clients in Rome, and with Tiago Pinto at the helm and José Mourinho as manager, it would make sense for the Wolverhampton goalkeeper to be the favourite.
Then again, stranger things have happened in football.
