On May 25th, SportItalia journalist Gianluigi Longari reported Arsenal have ‘manifested strong interest’ in Edmond Tapsoba and the Gunners ‘at the moment are favourites’ to sign the Bayer Leverkusen player.
Claims made by Longari are now backed up in Germany by Sport1 chief reporter Patrick Berger.
Late on Tuesday, Berger took to Twitter to explain ‘several clubs in the UK’ are ‘interested’ in the 22-year-old and only the north London club got a mention.
Leverkusen took the centre-back from Portuguese side Vitória de Guimarães in the winter 2020 market and he has been a regular for the Bundesliga side since then.
The Burkina Faso international’s contract with Leverkusen runs down until 2026, with no release clause attached to it.
According to Berger, the German club haven’t got any intention to sell their ‘key player’ this summer. However, they would ‘open talks’ for Tapsoba’s potential sale, if there’s bid of €60m.
In other words, Arsenal must submit an offer of €60m to ‘open talks’ for Tapsoba.
Several UK clubs are interested in Edmond Tapsoba (also #AFC). The 22-year-old has NO release clause in his contract until 2026. Bayer Leverkusen normally don’t want to sell the centre-back this summer as he is one of the key players. A club has to bid €60m to open talks. ⚫️🔴
