AS Roma have confirmed José Mourinho will be their manager from next season onwards and, since then, quite a few Premier League players have been linked with the Italian capital club.
Earlier today, Gazzetta dello Sport explained Wolverhampton Wanderers duo Rui Patricio and Nélson Semedo have made it to the Portuguese man’s wishlist, and now their Wolves teammate Raúl Jiménez is a new name that can be added to it thanks to journalist Alfredo Pedullà.
It’s claimed Mourinho’s wishlist for Roma will be ‘limited to what is strictly necessary’, and the Mexico international has made it on it.
Borja Mayoral [on loan from Real Madrid] and 35-year-old Edin Džeko [contract until 2022] are the two recognised strikers at the Serie A side, and while assessments will have to made on these two players, there will still be a need to strengthen the attack in the summer.
Mourinho wanted the former Benfica man at Tottenham Hotspur if Spurs had decided to sell Harry Kane, but the England international didn’t leave the club, which is why they never made an approach for the 30-year-old.
Nuno Espírito Santo’s side paid €38m to make Jiménez’s loan permanent in 2019 and a fee around that region would be deemed too high for the Giallorossi.
Roma will ‘want to please’ Mourinho and it remains to be seen how their efforts to sign the Wolves star would come about in the summer.
Jiménez is yet to return to the pitch since he fractured his skull against Arsenal last November, which could also delay matters depending on how his recovery goes in the coming months.
