Fabian Balbuena’s suggested departure from West Ham in the summer continues to be a topic of conversation in the Paraguayan media.
A month ago, it was the defender’s agent who claimed the player wasn’t expected to stay at the Hammers once the season ended, confirming there had been talks with several clubs regarding a potential transfer.
Now Balbuena himself has spoken to Futbol A Lo Grande, and made it very clear that he has no idea of what’s happening to him in the summer.
“I’m not aware of anything,” said Balbuena (via D10).
“I just focus on finishing the season well and then I’ll see what happens.”
Quizzed about a potential return to Corinthians, the Brazilian side who sold him to West Ham on a €4m deal in 2018, Balbuena admitted that could be a possibility.
“It has been almost three years since I left Corinthians and I still feel very loved. In the future you never know, I could go back but we’ll see at the end of the season.”
Balbuena has 16 appearances for West Ham this season, and despite being a regular starter until December, the player ended up losing his place in the first-team, leaving him to struggling for minutes of late.
Still, he highlights the great campaign the club has been having this season, claiming he’s only thinking about their objectives for now and not his personal situation.
“The team is focused on finishing the season in the best way. West Ham hadn’t done this season for a long time.”
