After a surprise departure from West Ham United in January, Sébastien Haller would have been hoping for a fresh start at Ajax.
His 18 months at the London Stadium was an unhappy time for the Ivorian striker, who failed to live up to the huge price that West Ham paid to sign him.
A move to the Netherlands, then, provided the perfect opportunity to forget the woes that encircled him at West Ham and rediscover the kind of form that made them sign him from Eintracht Frankfurt in the first place.
That is something he has gone some way to achieving, with six goals and five assists in 11 games in the Eredivisie, an impressive tally given he only arrived in January.
Now, the striker has not been missed in the competition thus far and commenting on that, Theo Janssen believes there is a reason for that.
“Ajax play the best with Tadić in the striker’s box, but they bought Haller for such a large amount,” he told RTL7.
“In the league, he will always play, and he will continue to score his goals, because Ajax are much better than their opponents.
“He’s a bit uninterested. He doesn’t seem to be in the mood for it, and he’s complaining to everyone and everything.”
