Mundo Deportivo believe Barcelona can expose Celtic’s weaknesses when the two teams meet tonight in Glasgow. Celtic need to get something out of the game to have a chance of grabbing a Europa League spot, but face an uphill task to achieve this.
Previewing the Champions League clash between Bredan Rodgers’ men and Barcelona, Mundo Deportivo believe with the likes of Luis Suarez and Neymar in the team they can easily exploit a weak Celtic defence.
They highlight that 35-year-old Kolo Toure will be going up against Suarez, and think the Ivorian will have his work cut out trying to stop the Barcelona star. The Catalan newspaper explain the former Manchester City star is now in the twilight of his career, but is ‘not a Maldini’.
Mundo Deportivo clearly don’t feel Toure is ageing like a fine wine, and the Camp Nou match will have underlined that for them.
It’s also on the wings where they believe Barcelona can have some success, but they will be coming up against Celtic right back Mikael Lustig.
The 29-year-old has been one of the stand out players in the SPL and for his country in the past 12 months. Lustig helped Celtic to the SPL title last season, and this week was in contention to be named the best Swedish defender of 2016.
Lustig eventually lost to Victor Lindelof, but to be picked in the same bracket as the Benfica star shows the qualities of the Celtic player.
