Once again, Joshua King was a big feature of the end of a transfer window, but this time he actually got a move.
The Bournemouth striker had felt on the verge of leaving his club for around a year, with there even being claims Manchester United tried to sign him in the 2020 winter transfer window.
Given his situation with the Championship club hadn’t been the best, and with his contract set to expire at the end of the current season, claims built in the final days fo the market. Several Premier League clubs were linked, and Everton managed to beat the competition.
Carlo Ancelotti was able to get in a replacement for Cenk Tosun, with Everton giving King a contract until the end of the campaign, with an option to extend it further.
Matteo Pedrosi is the editor of Corriere Granata, and speaking to CalcioStyle he was asked to reveal a recent Torino transfer attempt which failed, to which he replied: “In the last few days of the transfer market, Toro had resumed contact with Joshua King, a Norwegian striker already followed in the summer. By expiring his contract with Bournemouth he could have arrived on a free transfer in July, but in the end Ancelotti’s Everton won, who decided to withdraw him immediately in January, also beating the competition of Fulham, another interested club.”
Should Everton and King decide to part ways in the summer, there’s a possibility Torino could get another chance at the signing.
