On January 28th, L’Equipe reported Fulham’s Jean Michaël Seri has been a priority target for Bordeaux after Otávio suffered a serious injury.

It was also stated the 29-year-old is likely to join the French club on a loan deal without an option to buy.

Friday’s edition of L’Equipe explains there’s ‘still lack of definitive’ agreement between the two sides.

The talks between the two sides progressed well yesterday, after finding a ‘common ground on the financial’ aspect of the deal. A source said, “everyone has made an effort”. The Ivory Coast international is already imagining his move to Bordeaux this weekend.

Galatasaray showed interest and were ready to take the Cottagers player on a permanent transfer in the winter market.

Fulham used the Turkish club’s approach as leverage to include Josh Maja as part of the deal to let Seri join Bordeaux.

The Ligue 1 side, however, wanted the London club to negotiate two deals separately.

Fulham director Alistair Mackintosh has given his word to the player that he will allow him to join Bordeaux. Seri has made the latter a priority after holding talks with their sporting director, Alain Roche, and coach, Jean-Louis Gasset.

There seems to be a new development now and according to journalist Saber Desfarges, there’s ‘white smoke’ for Seri to join Bordeaux.

The player is set to arrive on a six-month loan deal without an option to buy.

Desfarges adds Seri made a ‘great financial effort’ to help him get a move away from Craven Cottage.
