Losing both Virgil Van Dijk and Joe Gomez to long-terms injuries all the while seeing their backups suffering niggling injuries, Liverpool are in dire need of a centre-back.

There might be nothing public about their need for one, but it’s glaringly obvious, and the January transfer window is the ideal time to remedy that.

Options, however, are limited, with most clubs not wanting to part ways with their starters midway through the season, leaving the Reds looking at future prospects instead.

One of those, it seems, is RC Lens’ Loïc Badé, who has been near ever-present for the Ligue 1 side this season following their promotion.

The 20-year-old has 16 appearances to his name in the league, and has caught the eye of Liverpool, according to Le10 Sport.

The French website explain ‘big clubs’ have started looking at Badé and ‘are thinking about making moves in the months to come’.

While Milan, who are focusing on Mohamed Simakan for now, are among them, Le10 state Liverpool are ‘working behind the scenes’ and are ‘following his development carefully’.

One we’ll be on the lookout for in the coming weeks and months.
