AS Roma, as well as wanting Bernard from Everton, are in desperate need of a right-back.

Rick Karsdorp has made some sort of reemergence of late, picking up four assists in 12 appearances playing on the right-hand side of the midfield in a 3-4-2-1, but Davide Santon isn’t exactly the best back up for him.

That’s why the Italian side are snooping around the transfer market in search of options, and they’ve found one in the shape of Celtic’s Jeremie Frimpong.

This isn’t the first time we’ve heard this, since they’ve been after Neil Lennon’s man for some time, and the price continues to increase.

According to Corriere dello Sport, Paulo Fonseca, Roma’s manager, ‘really likes’ Frimpong and what he has to offer, but the issue for the Serie A side, who would ideally want to keep him happy, is that the player costs ‘€15m’.

That’s a big price for a club hardly swimming in spare change, meaning the likes of Brandon Soppy at Rennes, Gonzalo Montiel at River Plate or even Liel Abada, currently playing at Maccabi Petah Tikva, are being looked as alternatives.

This seems to suggest that unless sales are made at Roma, Frimpong should remain at Parkhead for the time being.
